BGC Plasterboard have been working closely with BGC Housing Group and GTEK to offer a new, environmentally friendly and energy-efficient plasterboard option for new home construction.

GTEK™ Smartwall contains a host of environmental and structural benefits such as a smooth wall finish, sharply defined corners and no joint or cornice cracking. It provides improved acoustics and thermal insulation and is also backed by a lifetime no-crack guarantee.

The new offering means homeowners will also benefit from improved internal sound quality, temperature comfort, and the peace of mind that comes with selecting products that are environmentally friendly and locally owned here in WA.

Roger Brynjulfson, General Manager of BGC Plasterboard, said that GTEK™ Smartwall is the obvious choice when building a new home here in WA. “It provides a seamless premium wall finish and crack-free junction with a range of GTEK™ cornice profiles to transition into the plasterboard ceiling”.

GTEK™ Smartwall is made from an indefinitely recyclable raw material, gypsum, and has up to 30% less embodied energy than a wet-set cement-based render. Unique to GTEK™ in WA, any leftover materials and waste can be recycled back into new material avoiding material going into landfill.

Executive general manager of BGC Housing Group Michael Bartier, mentioned that the past 12 months had seen a significant increase in the use of GTEK™ Smartwall within the Housing group builds. “It’s a great product inclusion for our clients and also assists our construction team with faster installation times and easier paint application than traditional hard wall plaster finishes”.

BGC Housing Group is the first WA builder to switch to using this type of lining system for our homes. The shift to implementing this environmentally friendly and premium wall lining option is a result of the collaboration and hard work between BGC Plasterboard and BGC Housing Group.
