Climate Change

Climate change is accelerating and we commit to addressing it

We acknowledge the scientific evidence for climate change and support the Paris Agreement (2015). We acknowledge the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC’s) Sixth Assessment Report (6AR) as the most comprehensive review of climate change ever completed. Specifically, we acknowledge chapter 11 of the IPCC’s Working Group II’s contribution in Climate Change 2022: Climate Change Impacts, Adaption and Vulnerability in Australasia, the region we operate.

Under all emissions scenarios considered by scientists, the 1.5°C degree temperature rise will be reached by 2040, with the expected consequences being a further increase in extreme weather events and sea level rises. We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, incorporating the most recent climate science into our decision-making processes and strive to ensure our operations transition efficiently.

Sustainable Products

In line with this, we are committed to reducing our scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions to net-zero by 2040

To meet this commitment, we are taking a range of steps. This includes measuring and monitoring our emissions and investigating ways to drive emissions reduction through energy efficiency and fuel switching technologies, both existing and emerging.  We are also working with our supply chain partners to reduce our upstream and downstream scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy Efficiency Opportunities

We are pursuing and investing in energy efficiency opportunities and emission reduction technologies.

Waste and Recycling

We continue to look for ways to reduce our waste and increase the proportion of recycled content, through innovative solutions and a culture that promotes responsible waste management.

Water Management

We are pursuing ways to reduce the water consumption of our operations and ensure we build water efficient homes.
