Our Commitment

BGC is committed to a sustainable future.

We have conducted a materiality assessment to determine which sustainability topics are most important to our business and our stakeholders. Eight material topics have been identified where we feel we can have the greatest impact, aligned with six of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Our People and Performance

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

The health, safety and wellbeing of our people is our first priority and we are committed to fostering a work environment that is safe for our workforce and the communities where we operate.

In the past year we have taken significant strides to improve health and safety, and are continuing to implement new systems and training programs to ensure safety is embedded in everything we do.

Diversity & Inclusion

We value a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone, regardless of their differences feels safe at work and has opportunities to not only contribute but thrive.

To support our commitment, we have and continue to launch new initiatives that aim to foster diversity and inclusion, with a current focus on increasing participation of women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the workforce.

Engaged Employees

Our people are critical to our business. We recognise the importance of identifying, attracting and retaining individuals that embody our values.

Our Customers and Communities

Affordable Housing

We build houses that are affordable to construct as well as run. We are able to achieve this is due to the vertically integrated nature of our business.

For our customers this means, reduced energy bills and a smaller environmental footprint, due to efficient home design. We see this as a genuine opportunity to positively contribute to our customers and society.

Sustainable Products & Design

Our vertically integrated business model allows us to be directly involved in the manufacturing and development of the products we use.

We continually strive to enhance the sustainability of our products with a view to reducing our environmental footprint and enhance the benefits to our customers. This has helped to reduce household bills.

Our Edge

Climate Change

We recognise that some of our products are emissions intensive. We see it as our responsibility to reduce our emissions profile and play a role in the transitions to a lower carbon future.

We are pursuing and investing in energy efficiency opportunities and emission reduction technologies.

Waste & Recycling

We aim to ensure all waste generated by our operations is appropriately managed, and where possible recycled.

We continue to look for ways to reduce our waste and increase the proportion of recycled content, through innovative solutions and a culture that promotes responsible waste management.

Water Management

Water is essential for a number of our operations. We understand that water is a shared and precious resource, particularly given the drying climate of Western Australia.

Recognising this, we are pursuing ways to reduce the water consumption of our operations and ensure we build water efficient homes.
