Frequently asked questions
What can I expect from the recruitment process?
Each role is slightly different, however in general you can expect a phone screen, at least one interview and reference checks. Some roles may also require a medical or national police clearance.
I used to work at BGC, can I reapply?
We love that you are interested in re-joining BGC as we encourage former employees to reapply.
I didn’t get the job. Can I apply for other roles?
You are welcome to apply for as many roles as you wish.
I’ve registered my interest with BGC as there weren’t any roles currently available. What’s next?
Our recruiters check for existing applicants when new opportunities arise. We will be in touch when a suitable role becomes available.
Can I apply for more than one role at a time?
Absolutely! If you have the skills that match more than one role you are welcome to apply for as many roles as you wish.
What is the difference between a Traineeship and Apprenticeship?
The main difference between an apprenticeship and a traineeship is that a traineeship can be within a broader range of occupations and is run either part-time or full-time, where you are employed and trained for typically between one to two years; compared to an apprenticeship, which covers skilled trades and takes around four years to complete.
Are Traineeships and Apprenticeships only for school leavers?
Apprenticeships and traineeships are an excellent way to combine training with work, enabling you to have a job while you complete training towards a nationally recognised qualification. They are available to anyone of working age. You can do an apprenticeship or traineeship if you are a school-leaver, re-entering the workforce or as an adult or mature-aged person wishing to change careers.
When you finish your apprenticeship or traineeship you will have a nationally recognised qualification. Day One on the job, we’ll give you meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to prove yourself. With access to industry-leading training and development, BGC employees are in full control of their careers.
How long is the recruitment process?
The recruitment process varies depending on the role and the number of applicants. We strive to keep the time to recruit as short as possible.
Do I need to be able to prove my right to work in Australia?
Yes, you will need to provide either your birth certificate or passport to validate your right to work.
I currently don’t have the right to work in Australia or New Zealand, can I still apply?
BGC does offer sponsorship for some of our critical roles. Each job ad will specify whether sponsorship will be available to the successful candidate.
Do you take resumes from recruiters?
We ask that candidates come directly to us instead of through recruiters. We will not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters. No fees from recruiters will be accepted through this approach.
Am I required to have a Covid-19 vaccination?
BGC is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all our staff, customers, and the communities we operate in. In addition, we anticipate our employees being required to vaccinate in order to comply with government mandated requirements. Accordingly, candidates who do not have a government approved medical exemption will be required to have had a first Covid-19 vaccination prior to commencement of employment and may in some cases need to be fully vaccinated. Vaccination requirements for specific roles will be discussed during the interview process.
Can I email my application in?
No, all applications must be made through our recruitment portal. If you can’t see a specific opportunity to apply for now, you can submit your details through ‘Register your interest’
